Wearable IMU Sensors

Wearable IMU Sensors โ€“ Built for Real-World Motion Intelligence

The QSense wearable IMU sensors are the core of the platform. Designed for high-precision 3D motion tracking in real-world conditions, they deliver reliable, high-resolution motion data in environments where generic sensors fail.

Compact, lightweight and robust, QSense sensors are engineered for continuous use in clinical, industrial, sports and tactical settings.

What Are QSense Wearable IMU Sensors?

QSense wearable sensors are high-performance inertial measurement units (IMUs) that capture 3D human motion through a combination of:

  • accelerometers
  • gyroscopes
  • and (optionally) magnetometers

By attaching multiple sensors to the body, QSense enables full-body motion capture, segment tracking and detailed kinematic analysis โ€“ without cameras, markers or fixed infrastructure.

The sensors are designed to operate as part of the QSense platform, with tight synchronization, low latency and seamless integration into software and systems.

Designed for Performance-Critical Use

The QSense IMU Motion Sensor integrates:

  • Accelerometer for linear acceleration
  • Gyroscope for angular velocity
  • Magnetometer (optional) for heading reference

Together, these enable accurate orientation and motion tracking across a wide range of activities and environments.

Key design principles:

  • Field-robust โ€“ IP67 rated for indoor and outdoor use
  • Lightweight & unobtrusive โ€“ suitable for long-term wear
  • Low power โ€“ optimized for extended sessions
  • User-friendly โ€“ single button, multi-colour LEDs for feedback

Flexible Data Outputs

QSense sensors can be configured to output:

  • Raw sensor data
  • Fused kinematic data
  • 6-DoF or 9-DoF quaternion orientation
  • Mixed and custom modes

This flexibility allows you to use the same hardware for research, product development and real-time applications.

Built to Integrate

The sensors are designed as part of an open platform. Direct access to device memory and configuration enables deep integration into custom workflows and products.

Whether you are building a research setup, a clinical system or a commercial wearable, QSense sensors provide the foundation.

What Makes QSense IMU Sensors Different

Field-Ready by Design

QSense sensors are built for environments that are dynamic and unpredictable. They do not rely on line-of-sight, cameras or controlled conditions.

Use them in:

  • clinical settings
  • industrial environments
  • outdoor sports fields
  • training facilities
  • and operational contexts

without changing your setup.

Deterministic Timing & Synchronization

Each sensor is part of a synchronized system. QSense delivers tight inter-sensor alignment, enabling:

  • reliable multi-sensor fusion
  • frame-accurate analysis
  • clean phase detection
  • and trustworthy real-time feedback

This is essential for biomechanics, training, rehabilitation and safety-critical use cases.

Low-Latency, Real-Time Performance

QSense sensors support real-time streaming with low end-to-end latency, enabling closed-loop applications such as:

  • coaching feedback
  • rehabilitation guidance
  • skill training
  • interactive environments
  • humanโ€“machine interaction

The sensor is not just a data source โ€“ it is part of an active system.

Open, Integratable and OEM-Ready

QSense sensors are not locked into a closed ecosystem. They are designed to be embedded into:

  • research pipelines
  • clinical systems
  • training platforms
  • XR environments
  • and commercial products

With open SDKs, APIs and transparent data formats, you stay in control of your architecture and roadmap.

Hardware Design โ€“ Compact, Lightweight and Robust

The QSense wearable IMU sensor is designed to be unobtrusive while delivering high performance.

Key design principles:

  • compact form factor for multi-sensor setups
  • lightweight for long-term wear
  • robust housing for real-world use
  • easy mounting on different body segments

This enables comfortable use in both short tests and extended sessions.

Performance & Data Quality

QSense sensors are designed for high-fidelity motion capture and analysis.

They deliver:

  • stable orientation estimates
  • low drift
  • high signal quality
  • consistent sampling

This supports applications ranging from biomechanics and rehabilitation to training and ergonomics.

(Technical specifications can be found in the datasheet.)

Designed for Real-World Workflows

QSense sensors are built to fit into operational reality.

They support:

  • fast setup and calibration-light workflows
  • multi-sensor configurations across the body
  • long sessions without frequent intervention
  • integration into existing workflows

From pilot studies to daily operational use, the sensors are designed to be practical.

From Prototype to Product

QSense wearable sensors are designed to scale.

We support:

  • custom enclosure and form factor development
  • firmware customization
  • validation and certification pathways
  • DFM and manufacturing preparation
  • scalable production and supply chain setup

Whether you are building a prototype or launching a commercial product, we help you move forward.

Part of a Complete Motion Intelligence Platform

The wearable IMU sensors are not standalone components. They are part of the QSense platform, together with:

  • synchronization & timing architecture
  • data & output formats
  • SDKs & integration layers
  • visualization & tooling

This ensures that hardware, firmware and software work together as one system.

Letโ€™s Build on Wearable Motion Sensing
